How I Can Help.

Listed below are the services I can provide. If you would like further information or wish to discuss anything in more detail please feel free to contact me.

Due to recent expansion I have welcomed additional dyslexia trained Primary teachers to Kate Morris Tutoring. All tutors hold DBS certificates and relevant insurance. Families can liaise directly with their tutors and can also contact me at any time after the initial setting up process.

English & Maths Tutoring

English & Maths Tutoring for Primary aged pupils (1 to 1). I am an experienced primary school teacher. I know the national curriculum well so I am able to support children across the curriculum, including towards KS2 SATs tests. I offer weekly or fortnightly 1 hour sessions.

Specialist Dyslexia Tuition

Specialist one to one dyslexia tutoring for learners up to age 16 (predominantly Primary and KS3, Years 7, 8, 9).

Use of multisensory teaching and learning strategies and practical resources, individual to your child’s learning profile and interests. Helping your child to learn about their best ways of learning, so they can utilise their strengths and learn effective strategies for life, whilst growing in confidence. I offer weekly or fortnightly 1-hour sessions and am a registered specialist tutor with the BDA.

Dyslexia Screenings (suitable from age 5+)

A short screening identifies a likelihood of dyslexia. It is not a diagnosis but shows areas of strength & weaknesses & can help to target support & effective learning strategies. Along with a checklist, these are the first steps in the process of identifying dyslexia.

I have recently started running screening days with the Gloucestershire Dyslexia Association. I also offer some screenings from my home. Please contact me for further information.

Full Dyslexia Diagnostic Assessments (suitable from age8+)

A diagnostic assessment is the only way to formally diagnose dyslexia and must be undertaken by a qualified assessor. It will identify a learner’s profile of strengths and weaknesses and give bespoke recommendations for future support. An assessment consists of tests of underlying ability, cognition, reading, writing and spelling.

I offer a small number of diagnostic assessments each year, alongside my other work. If I am unable to assess, I can assist by sharing details of other local assessors and organisations who should be able to help.

For further information about reasons to have an assessment, please visit the BDA website here.

Peer Support and Information

I can provide information about dyslexia for families and support. I regularly give talks for parents and families about dyslexia and supporting your child, often with the Gloucestershire Dyslexia Association and Books for Bugs.

I co-host regular coffee mornings for parents/families of neurodivergent children.

For details about any upcoming events follow my Facebook page here.

Meet The Team…

I am delighted to have both these ladies as part of the Kate Morris Tutoring team!

Natalie and Susan will work with your child directly, whilst liaising with me initially and at regular intervals regarding your child's reports, progress, teaching and learning activities and resources. Invoices are sent out termly from Kate Morris.

Natalie Roberts (Tutor and PA)

I first met Natalie when we were at University together, training to become teachers. Like me, she graduated in 1999 and has been a Primary School teacher ever since, working mainly in schools in Bristol. Natalie is an experienced and dedicated teacher, patient and passionate in all she does, adapting lessons to make them fun, engaging and bespoke to children's needs and interests. Natalie is experienced in working with students with SpLD's (Specific Learning Differences) including dyslexia, and has undergone training in her South Gloucestershire schools as well as dyslexia/SpLD training with me. Natalie now enjoys tutoring, offering online sessions.

Susan Durrant (Tutor)

I first met Susan when she taught my own children at our local Primary School and I still struggle to call her by her first name! Susan is a wonderfully experienced and treasured Primary Teacher who has just retired from 30 years of teaching (in the same school) to tutor daily. She has completed dyslexia training with me and has previously tutored many children with SpLD's. Susan teaches in a fun, multisensory, practical, developmental, and dyslexia-friendly way, engaging children to have fun, make progress and be the best they can be.
